Nancy Pants

Although we returned from Morocco in one piece, we all ended up getting sick and were bedridden for most of the second week of our break. Poor Rachel even passed out in town and had to be taken away in an ambulance. Boredom set in pretty hard so for the last weekend of holidays Mary Elizabeth and Mhairi Elizabeth decided to set off on a train adventure to check out the north of france, more specifically- Nancy! We were drawn in the lonely planet's promise of "stained glass windows and dreamlike, sinuous grillwork that grace the entrances to many offices, shops and private home." More like we thought that the name was funny and we hoped to find an all gay town.

It turned out to be a magical place afterall. It was just like the set of a french film. The main part of town was building from the 16th to 18th century and the gates all around were golden. There were other world heritage buildings through town that were really impressive. I dont even feel the need to go to the colosseum anymore...and we found another 'Musee des Beaux Arts'. I think they just give all museums in France the same name. We had a great day exploring and shopping and we finally got to see some of the olympics on the tv in our hotel room. And we got some sushi as an ode to Sheena. At night we took advantage of being in a town that actually has bars. We set out on our own little pubcrawl looking for fun and we found it in the form of an all asian posse. They took us to a dance bar where we danced the night away until the morning when the buses started up again. Well not quite long enough actually. We had a short but freezing wait outside and we ended up eating paninis outside in a random doorway. We're really going all out with this homeless thing...

Otherwise we are back to school, and looking forward to the spring break! Anant came back from India with so much stuff! She gives us jewellery and pr
esents everyday! Tonight she gave us spicy spring rolls from home which were pretty delicious! The school where were living is on strike so we haven't been sleeping in. Before 8 every morning they start blaring some sort of french hillbilly music and it changes to rap around 10. They were also hanging signs out of the residence windown. I don't really know what they were protesting with the sheet that just said 'STI'. Ahh the crazy french!

Also shoutout to Lindsay McInnis who actually sent some peanut butter all the way from Canada! red sands for you!
